We are honoured to present our work (Channelling Live) alongside performances by Catherine “Legs” Hernandez, cassy walker, Juliet November, Alvis Parsley, India Davis, Masti Khor, Fonna Seidu, Francesca Nocera and Yvonne Fly Onakeme Etaghene


Channelling Live is a spoken word performance process where content is mediated by technology, distance and foreign bodies.  Written and conceived by Donna-Michelle St. Bernard, interpreting artists Clare Preuss and Pamela Gilmartin will hear the text for the first time as it is transmitted to them during the performance.

For this performance, the text being channelled is entitled In The Days of My Virginity, a part of the 54ology.  In the Days of My Virginity explores the value of virginity and is being developed with the support of actor Virgilia Griffith.


Clare Preuss  is a multidisciplinary theatre artist who has collaborated with many innovative and award-winning theatre companies including: Alameda, Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland, b current, BeMe, Blyth, Buddies in Bad Times, Cahoots, Carlos Bulosan, Driftwood, Factory, fu-GEN, Young People’s Theatre, Native Earth Performing Arts, New Harlem Productions, Nightwood, Stratford, Te-Amim Music Theatre, Theatre Direct Canada, Threshold, Union Eight and Volcano among others.  Her work has been seen at Canadian festivals  such as BUZZ, Hysteria, Mayworks, Next Stage, OTHERfolk, Rhubarb, SpringWorks, SummerWorks, Magnetic North and Wrecking Ball. Her film and TV credits include: Mean Girls (Paramount), The Prince and Me (Paramount), Urban Legends: Final Cut (Phoenix) and Get With The Program (TVO).  Clare holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta and is a Certified Yoga Instructor.  She is a part-time faculty member at Humber College.  She was nominated for the 2011 John Hirsch Director’s Award and the 2013 John Hirsch Prize.  Clareis the Associate Artistic Director at Volcano Theatre and the Artistic Director of Body Theatre.


Pamela Gilmartin:  Original singer/songwriter Pamela Gilmartin has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and Composition. She is a currently and forever a member of Sans Cherubs (an original band from the CT/NYC area formed in 1994). She performed for a number of years with Toronto’s own: The McFlies (a multi-instrumental 1980’s acoustic cover/celebration band). This past year Musical Director Pamela Gilmartin collaborated with award winning Canadian playwright Donna-Michelle St. Bernard on two of Donna’s NEW emerging plays: Give It Up and The Chariot.  She is a co-vocalist in folk/funk/hip hop trio Ergo Sum Pamela Gilmartin’s original music can be heard on
